Helping maintain healthy blood sugar levels
At Ingredion, we’re proud to be at the forefront of health management—an area of major focus for our scientists for many years. A wealth of published research studies, demonstrate that HI-MAIZE® 260 resistant starch helps maintain healthy blood sugar levels and has the following EU authorised health claim: “Replacing digestible starches with resistant starch in a meal contributes to a reduction in the blood glucose rise after that meal.” This claim may be used only for food in which digestible starch has been replaced by resistant starch so that the final content of resistant starch is at least 14% of total starch. Resistant starch is a unique dietary fibre that resists digestion in the small intestine to pass into the large intestine where it is fermented by bacteria in the colon. Derived from high amylose maize, HI-MAIZE® 260 resistant starch is dietary fibre which can boost the nutritional profile of everyday foods such as white bread, muffins, crackers, cakes and pasta.
If you are developing products to help consumers manage health challenges related to blood sugar, now is the time to join us at Ingredion Idea Labs™ innovation centres. Put some of the world’s most rigorous science-based problem-solvers to work to protect your consumers’ health.
