True traceability |
The TRUETRACE® program allows Ingredion to trace any batch of starch back to the farmer who grew the corn, the fields on which the corn was grown and the seed varieties and lots used to grow it. Here are just a few of the ways we earn your trust with this proven program.
Farmers contract directly with Ingredion to grow several varieties of corn. These farmers follow the requirements of Ingredion’s TRUETRACE® program and submit to audits.
Farmers are required to use only non-GMO seed.
They certify cleaning of all equipment is free from GMO material. Hired workers must be trained and farmers are required to show proof of their training.
Farmers also must provide maps of all fields used to grow corn for Ingredion. No GMO corn can be grown in these fields during the previous year.
Unique identifiers are assigned to each farmer in Ingredion’s program to track their grain through all stages of the production process.
Our other third-party growers follow the same procedures and are audited according to established protocol.
Starches from other non-GMO crops |
You can also choose non-GMO starches derived from wheat, tapioca (cassava), potato, rice and sago. These crops—grown in Europe, Thailand and Brazil—either have no genetically modified versions or are grown in countries that prohibit genetically modified organisms. The ingredients derived from them are made under strict protocols to preserve the identity of the crops and prevent contamination. For example, some tapioca ingredients are produced in our non-GMO plant in the United States.

For the highest non-GMO assurance in flours, our HOMECRAFT® functional flours are made in the United States from local grain. You can also choose gluten-free rice and corn flours or our new line of tapioca flours.
